The route begins in the locality of Olleros (30 km to the south of Huaraz), where the loads will be transported by Llamas during the passage.
Throughout the four days of long walk, besides to cross diverse natural places of great snow-covered beauty and to appreciate the Shaqsha (5.703), Cashan (5 686) and Tuctupunta (5 343), the travellers participate in the customs and traditions of the farmers of towns like Shongo (with its imposing sacred monoliths or “huancas”) and Nunupata.
The route finalizes in the spectacular archaeological Complex of Chavín de Huantar, important administrative and ceremonial center of the first panperuana pre-Columbian culture |
