The mountain range Huayhuash this located at 50Km. to the south of the Mountain range Blanca, this chain of mountains is one of the most spectacular and beautiful places in the Peruvian Andes. Thanks to the difficult of their access, it has remained almost intact. It is ideal to practice mountaineering and trekking.

It has only 7 mountains that overcome the 6,000m of height and other 7 mountains that overcomes the 5,500 m .; inside their beauty paisajísticas it meet the highest second mountain of the Peru the Yerupaja (6,634m) the same as the famous made Big Siula for the climber Joe Simpson Touching the Void; (6356m), other main mountains are the Rondoy (5879m), Jirishanca (6094m),Yerupaja Boy (6121m), Sarapo (6,127m), Butcher (5,975m) and Trapecio (5,644m). there are other two mountains of moderate ascension as the - Diablo Mudo (5,223m) and the Pumarinri (5,465m).

On the other hand, in the area are alternated lagoons of indescribable beauty are like (Carhuaconcha, Viconga and Jahuacocha) with sheltered valleys and a rich fauna and wild flora.

Things that you need to bring or carry:...
  • Backpack.
  • Sleeping bag.
  • Rain jacket or poncho (plastic ponchos can be purchased in Huaraz for a few dollars).
  • Strong, comfortable footwear.
  • One complete change of clothing (you can afford to carry more changes of clothing if you hire a personal porters, see options below)
  • Sweater and jacket (something warm).
  • Water bottle, ideally non disposable canteen (boiled drinking water will be provided).
  • Torch / Flashlight and batteries.
  • Hat or cap to protect you from the sun.
  • Sun block (sun protection cream).
  • Insect repellent, absolutely the most important item for this hike is bug spray. Anything with a lot of DEET with do the job, anything less is simply not sufficient. Bug spray MUST be bought in Huaraz, as it cannot be found even in neighboring towns.
  • Toiletries, towel and toilet paper.
  • Selection of small snacks, chocolate, dried fruit, biscuits, energy bars etc.
  • Camera, plenty of film and spare batteries, cash in soles and US$
  • Swimsuit (if you plan on visiting the hot springs at Hunacarhuaz after the trek)
  • Optional: walking Poles /sticks rubber covers necessary
  • You also need to bring a copy of  your passport on the trail.
