The city of Iquitos is located on the North Jungle, western side of the country. Iquitos is the capital of the Region Loreto. The city is located at the border of the Amazon River, opposite of an island well known as Padre Isla. It is wooded and has a longitude of about twenty Kms.
The River is surrounded by rivers and minor canals. No so far, it is located the intersection of the great River Napo and Amazonas. On this river world, communication depends on the navigation and the ground transportation. In Iquitos, there is a zoo which was opened recently. Because of the rubber business on the last century, different buildings such as old houses in front of the jetty and pre building house in America, well known as the Casa de Hierro, were built. It was designed by Gustave Eiffel , and the parts were brought from Europe. The assembled was made in the place it is located, downtown city. |
